Tree Sculpture Mock-Up

Rendering
Orlando novel by Virginia Woolf and play adaption by Sarah Ruhl (17 November 2022) is a story about the transcendance of love, of any form, between time, space, and gender
The design of this show reflects this transcendece and journey through the life and loves of Orlando. We are set on a floating stage that has smooth and inviting entrances and exits. Its texture is light and soft. We are not looking at just Orlando’s experiences in life and love, we are also reflecting on our life and love so the space was designed to be in Orlando’s world. Softening the spafce with curved buttresses and fabric archways make it so that regardless of where you are you are with Orlando on his/her journey. There is a constant in this journey however, which I envision as Orlando’s first and continuous love, the oak tree. This tree is something that always hangs above Orlando with its brilliace and majesty. This tree is the inspiration to the poem that takes Orlando 500 years to be able to get right, but when he/she does it is a sensation of love, happiness, and transcendace of learning the importance of life.
